Whilst your child is at school age they're likely to have access to a school nurse. A school nurse is a qualified nurse or midwife who has gained extra experience and qualifications to become a specialist community public health worker.

Measuring height and weight
As part of the National Child Measurement Programme, your child is weighed and measured at school. The information is used by the NHS to plan and provide better health services for children. Your child will be weighed when he or she is:
- between 4 and 5 years old (reception class)
- between 10 and 11 years old (year 6)
