Online course on Autism provided by The Tizard Centre at the University of Kent:

This is the introduction to the course:

‘Welcome to ‘Understanding Autism’ - Understand more about autism, including diagnosis, the autistic spectrum and life with autism, with this online course

Your lead educator on this course is Jill Bradshaw. Jill is a Lecturer in Learning Disability at the University of Kent’s Tizard Centre.

Jill will be supported through the course by Georgina (George) Watts, an autistic self advocate, and Clare Melvin. George and Clare are postgraduate students at the Tizard Centre. You may like to watch George’s short film, Talking in Pictures(11 minutes), challenging common stereotypes of autism.

Throughout the course we’ll also be joined by colleagues with particular expertise in the topics we’ll be covering, and we’ll introduce them as we go along. In this first step, Jill talks with Dr Fiona Gullon-Scott, a Lecturer at Newcastle University and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Tizard Centre. Fiona is a specialist in autism spectrum conditions.
