Santa flies into Sutton on Saturday night (November 24)

Thousands are expected at the Christmas lights switch on, this Saturday (Nov 24).

The festive fun starts in Sutton High Street at 6pm, with performances by street dancers, Flawless, followed by the 6.30pm lights extravaganza. Other events include an Elf Takeover, a puppet pantomime, stage performances and the launch of the Igloo Wonderland.

A spokesman for Sutton Council said: “Saturday is going to be a fun time for everyone, and children won’t want to miss Santa’s arrival.”

As part of a month long series of Xmas events, film buffs can experience a 360o igloo cinema screening of, The Alien who stole Christmas, Frozen, The Snowman and much more.

Last year’s Switch On event attracted an additional 4,000 visitors to the High Street.

The Igloo Wonderland, located in Times Square, has capacity for over 400 visitors a day, 7 days a week.

Businesses can get involved in the calendar of events, including the Igloo Wonderland, until December 15.

Festive events will run, from Monday to Saturday 10am - 6pm and on Sundays 11am - 6pm.
