Important news for Year 5 parents applying for secondary schools this autumn

Sutton schools that select by ability had planned to conduct their selective eligibility tests on 15 September 2020. The schools involved are:

  • Nonsuch High School for Girls
  • Sutton Grammar School
  • Wallington County Grammar School
  • Wallington High School for Girls
  • Wilson’s School
  • Greenshaw High School (selective places only)

In response to a range of Covid-related issues which make September testing undesirable and impractical, these have now been delayed until November.

Precise dates will be confirmed early in the autumn term. Parents/carers who have registered for the test should have received a collective communication from the above schools informing them of this directly.

The eligibility tests will therefore fall after the closing date for applications, 31 October 2020, and means eligibility for a selective school will not be confirmed until mid to late November. Whilst parents and carers must still submit their application by 31 October, Sutton Council has agreed that, where resident parents subsequently wish to change their preferences based on selection test outcomes, these will be accommodated up to 10 December 2020.

Full details on how to do this, as well as information on what to do if you live outside of the Borough, can be found at www.sutton.gov.uk/admissions.
