Operated by bp pulse, the 50kw chargers can charge most electric vehicles to 80% of their battery’s capacity in around 30 minutes and brings the total of rapid charging points in Sutton to eight, in addition to a number of ‘slow’ and ‘fast’ charge points across the borough.

The two latest charge points have been facilitated by Transport for London as part of its programme to install 300 rapid charging points across London by the end of 2020.

Councillor Manuel Abellan, Chair of the Environment and Sustainable Transport Committee said:

“We have ambitious sustainable transport goals in Sutton and it’s great to see these additional charge points in Worcester Park and Hackbridge.

"We are powering ahead on our plans to make switching to electric vehicles easier for residents.

This is all part of our plans to make Sutton one of London's greenest boroughs."
