Supporting our communities

In response to ongoing work to help the borough recover from the many impacts of COVID-19, we are making this joint statement to inform people in the Borough of Sutton about how they can help us in efforts to support our communities, and where they can go to for help and support if needed.

Throughout the past 12 months the Council, CCG and voluntary and community sector partners have worked side by side to lead and coordinate support for vulnerable people facing unprecedented challenges as a result of the pandemic. As part of work to support those who are clinically extremely vulnerable (shielding) more than 1,800 of you volunteered to help us deliver 5,800 food parcels, and more than 10,000 calls were made via the Community Hub to link people up with partner charities for further help and support.

Local volunteers are also playing a vital role in the vaccine roll out; with nearly 200 volunteers providing over 7000 hours of support at the Nonsuch Vaccination Centre. Thank you so much for all your help and support, which has meant so much to so many.

We know that there are many challenges still ahead of us and we want to assure you that we will continue working together over the next few months to support our communities to recover from the impacts of Covid-19, and ensure that help and support is still available for those who need it most.
