Following the successful Summer HAF Programme, Sutton Council would like to thank all its providers and partners for working closely with us to make it the best and most successful programme to date for our children and young people living in the Borough..

The HAF Programme supports families who may otherwise find the holiday season particularly challenging, by providing fun and engaging activities along with a healthy nutritious meal during the session. Sutton Council has worked closely with its partners, schools, voluntary organisations and childcare providers to bring together a free programme of events for children and young people aged 5-16 and who are receiving benefits-related free school meals. In addition to the many festive activities, eligible children and young people will receive ‘Take and Make’ Boxes containing a recipe which they can cook with their family.

Craig Jones Chief Operating Officer at Fit For Sport, one of many providers who delivered the HAF programme during the Summer said;

“We were delighted to have partnered with Sutton Council again this Christmas after a successful summer programme.”

“During the summer holidays, we and Sutton Council engaged over 660 children for over 376 hours of activity and look forward to welcoming more children during the Christmas holidays.”

“The HAF funding enables us to create positive experiences for children while also encouraging them to learn, grow, interact, and have fun. The wellbeing of children has never been more important which is why giving more children access to a wide range of activities and a healthy meal is so important. We look forward to supporting more children during the Christmas holiday period."

Lauren Blake, parent of Joshua, aged 5 who attended a HAF event said;

“Joshua loves coming each time and keeps asking when he is next going to the club. It has been great for me that you have been flexible with the sessions each week, as it has allowed me time to do the things I have needed to get done for work.”

Councillor Marian James, Chair of the People Committee said;

“We delivered a successful HAF programme during the summer with over 1100 children and young people taking part. We are delighted to be working with our local organisations once again to bring the Sutton community together to enjoy fun, enriching and engaging activities.

“If your child receives benefits-related free school meals, we would urge families to take a look at the ambitious programme of events Sutton Council are offering during the festive season.”
