Smartbiz@sutton was held on Saturday April 26th at the Holiday Inn Sutton, with over one-hundred people attending. The free event offered support and advice for small and start-up businesses, and those thinking of starting up a business and featured an exhibition hall and two rooms of seminars offering advice on issues such as getting off the starting blocks. The London Borough of Sutton Business Survey 2007 results are now available. A summary report ( PDF - 537KB) has been produced which contains the headline results. If you would like any further details please email economic.renewal@sutton.gov.uk.
South London Business are running training courses for businesses called Work Smarter ( PDF - 84KB). Work Smarter is a series of training courses designed to provide effective staff development solutions that don’t break the bank or dent the bottom line. The courses are designed to enhance delegates’ knowledge, skills and motivation.

The new Sutton Business Directory is up and running online. You can search for businesses using fields including their name or location. If your business is not included in the directory you can also register online. If you wish to order a CD copy which comes attached to the Business Guide please contact 020 8770 5127 or economic.renewal@sutton.gov.uk. The CD version contains extra seach facilities and the ability to upgrade for further facilities such as printing address labels and exporting data.
The Executive endorsed the 2007-2010 Economic Strategy ( PDF - 2,573 KB) for the borough at its meeting on June 4th. This document will guide development of the borough's economy and has been created following consultation with key stakeholders including partners and local businesses. Much of the research that was carried out to create the strategy is documented in the report ( PDF - 890KB) prepared by Public and Corporate Economic Consultants.
Sutton Chamber will be holding a VIP Breakfast on 2nd July at the Holiday Inn, Sutton. The theme for the networking meeting will be 'Credit Crisis - Boom or Bust?' and will feature Jamely Smalley of Mazars as a guest speaker. To register your place please visit the Sutton Chamber website.
