  • Robin Hood Infants and Thomas Wall Nursery (starts 4 March 2024)
  • Tweeddale Primary School and Tweeddale Children’s Centre (starts 4 March 2024)
  • St Philomena's Catholic High School for Girls and St. Mary’s Catholic Junior School
  • Wood Field Primary School

When restrictions are in place

Restrictions are in place during term time. The timings are dependent on the school and location of the school street. See full details of times and the boundaries of the School Street schemes.

Vehicles already within the zone at the start of the restricted times are free to leave.

Election Day - please note School Street Schemes which include Polling Stations are not enforced on Election day. The schemes impacted are Abbey Primary School, Muschamp Primary School and Robin Hood Junior School.

Exemptions

Some vehicles are exempt from the School Streets. These vehicles are able to enter the area during the hours of operation. 

You can apply for an exemption permit if you’re in one of these groups.

Can enter a School Street during hours of operation

  • emergency services 
  • residents within the zone (with exemption permit)
  • blue badge holders needing access
  • carers of vulnerable residents needing access (with exemption permit)
  • utility providers attending emergencies
  • school buses
  • parents or carers dropping off or collecting students with special educational needs or disabilities (register with the school and cases determined by the school on a case-by-case basis)
  • teachers and school staff working at the school within the school street area (register with the school)
  • staff working in businesses located within the school street restricted area (with exemption permit)
  • postal service
  • refuse vehicles

Cannot enter a School Street during hours of operation

  • parents and child carers
  • delivery drivers 
  • tradespeople 
  • visitors
  • businesses located outside of the school street restricted area
  • motorcycles or motor scooters
  • school staff
  • medical deliveries
  • taxis and private hire vehicles
  • all other general traffic

Deliveries

If you live within the restricted area, any deliveries will need to adhere to the closure timings. Please schedule any large deliveries outside of the restricted hours. 

Penalty charges

If you are not an exempt vehicle and enter the zone during the restricted times, you will receive a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) of £65. This rises to £130 if not paid within 14 days.

London Borough of Sutton’s Parking Services team will be in charge of enforcement.

Number plate recognition

School Street schemes in the borough of Sutton will be monitored by an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera.

This detects vehicles travelling into the restricted area.
