Get help with food shopping and hot meals.

Meals on Wheels service

If you are housebound and find it hard to cook for yourself, you can have hot meals delivered to you at home.

You can download the Meals on Wheels menu (PDF, 110,KB).

Cost

The current cost for meals on wheels is:

  • £6.00 for a hot meal and dessert
  • £3.00 for a packed tea per day

You can pay this by monthly invoice or direct debit.

Meal options

All meals are nutritionally balanced.

There are options for different diets and preferences. Alternative options are available if you don’t like a particular meal.

How Meals on Wheels works

We work in partnership with the Sutton Old People’s Welfare Committee. All of our meals are delivered by their volunteers.

The volunteers always check on a person’s wellbeing to make sure that they're safe and well. They will immediately report any concerns.

Get help with food shopping

Speak to your local supermarket

Many supermarkets will help you with your shopping if you have difficulty shopping for yourself.

They can help you to get around the supermarket if you are using a wheelchair, or deliver your shopping for you. You can contact the supermarket to see how they can help you.

Contact a local foodbank

If you are struggling to afford food, you can get emergency food parcels from the Sutton Foodbank.

You can shop at the Sutton Foodshop in the St Nicholas Centre for a membership fee of £3 a week. This lets you choose from approximately 15 to 20 items of food.

Residents in the St Helier area can access the St Helier Community Food Shop.
