A new satellite site for The Limes College is on track to open soon from Sunningdale Road. The new site, funded by Sutton Council, will provide 20 places for young people to access vocational courses from City & Guilds with a particular focus on construction skills. Known as ‘Alternative Provision’ (AP), the site is for those students in years 9, 10 and 11 who would benefit from a vocational offer at the Limes College, alongside their mainstream school GCSE qualifications.

The Limes College is a school that works with children and young people who have found themselves in some way unable to fully access mainstream education. This may be through unmet needs, sometimes referred to as Special Educational & Disabilities Needs (SEND), or complex life circumstances.

In addition to this new Alternative Provision, The Limes College have over the past year worked with the Council to create a task force working with a range of specialists to better coordinate the support to young people with additional needs and at the risk of exclusion. Following a year with the new task force in place the college has seen positive results including increased attendance from students and 45 children have accessed mental health and speech and language support.

These developments at The Limes College are part of the Council’s three year SEND and AP strategy, working together with partners to provide all children and young people in Sutton with the best chances to achieve their best outcomes in life, whatever their starting point, and to prepare them effectively for adulthood.
