Pay Council Tax

There are several ways that you can pay your Council Tax bill.

Pay by Direct Debit

You can choose to pay:

  • over 10 or 12 months
  • on the 1st, 8th, 16th or 23rd of each month (the April payment date is always the 7th and not the 1st)

Set up a Direct Debit

Make sure you enter your bank account name exactly as it appears on your bank card or cheque book.

Once you’ve set up the Direct Debit, we’ll send a new bill to you within 10 working days. This will tell you how much you’re paying and when.

Returned Direct Debits

If your Direct Debits are returned unpaid, we do not automatically represent them. Also, if 3 Direct Debits are returned unpaid, then it’s automatically cancelled.

If your account is subject to ongoing court proceedings
If you have summonsed arrears, you can’t use our online Direct Debit service. You can set up a Direct Debit by calling us on 020 8770 5000.
