Parking dispensations and suspensions
If you need to carry out work which requires continuous access for loading or unloading or you are moving house you may need a parking dispensation.
A parking dispensation allows vehicles to park on a waiting restriction in circumstances where the vehicle needs to be close to a specific location. For example if you are carrying out works that require you to park close to a building where you need continuous access to load or unload goods or materials; or in connection with funerals, domestic removals etc. A charge will generally be applicable for each vehicle.
Please note that red routes are the responsibility of Transport for London (TfL) and you will need to apply to TfL for a dispensation on a red route. The council will not be able to grant a parking dispensation on a red route.
If you require a parking dispensation please read the conditions and notes to applicant on the Parking dispensation application form. When completed send the application form with the payment (cheques should be made payable to 'London Borough of Sutton) to Parking Services to arrive at least 4 working days before you require the dispensation to start.
If you have difficulties or require a dispensation urgently, for example for a funeral, contact the Customer Service Centre on 020 8770 5000. Your dispensation will need to be collected from the Parking Desk in the reception area of the Sutton Civic Offices, between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
Suspensions can be requested for a number of reasons, most are put in place if it is necessary to do so in order to undertake essential work that cannot be achieved without reserving a section of highway. We will also suspend parking bays/areas for funerals, weddings, removals, building work and special events.
When we suspend an area, suspension signs are placed on nearby street furniture in order to reserve the space for your use and on certain occasions cones may be placed in the carriageway. If unauthorised vehicles park within the suspended area whilst operational we are able to issue Penalty Charge Notices, however we do not have the facilities to remove such vehicles.
Please note that red routes are the responsibility of Transport for London (TfL) and you will need to apply to TfL for a suspension on a red route. The council will not be able to grant a parking suspension on a red route.
If you require a parking suspension please read the terms and conditions on the Parking suspension application form. When completed send the application form to firstname.lastname@example.org at least 7 working days before you require the suspension to start.
If you have difficulties or require a suspension urgently, for example for a funeral, contact the Customer Service Centre on 020 8770 5000.
