Following the resignation of Chief Executive Niall Bolger and his appointment as Chief Executive at the London Borough of Hounslow, announced on 6 September, the following arrangements are to be put in place ahead of Niall leaving Sutton Council.

The Senior Officer Appointments Committee in Sutton will start the wide-ranging search for a new permanent Chief Executive in mid October. It is expected that a permanent appointment will be made early in 2019 and we would envisage that the successful candidate will start in post in the early summer of 2019.

An interim Chief Executive will be appointed for a period of six months, until the permanent Chief Executive starts their new role. The Senior Officer Appointments Committee will meet to consider expressions of interest in the key position, from the two permanent Strategic Directors.

Cllr Jayne McCoy, Deputy Leader of Sutton Council, said: “We’ll continue to provide the high quality services residents expect as we begin our search for a new Chief Executive in Sutton. We want to make sure we find the best candidate to implement our ambitious strategic plan over the next few years, which will continue to make Sutton a great place to live, work and raise a family.”

Further updates will be released as the process continues.
