Transport for London (TfL) is consulting on proposals for a new, direct and fast public transport service in Sutton and Merton called the Sutton Link.

The Sutton Link aims to create a reliable public transport route for people travelling between Sutton town centre and Merton. It would connect with other major transport services into London and across the region, including National Rail, London Underground, London Trams and bus services. It aims to make journeys by public transport quicker and more attractive, and reduce the need for trips by car.

Cllr Jayne McCoy, Deputy Leader and Chair of the Housing, Economy and Business Committee Sutton Council, said: “TfL are at a stage where they would like to know residents’ views about three potential routes.

“Two of the three routes have been planned as a tram extension but are also being considered for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).

“By giving their views, residents can influence whether we can get a tram or BRT in Sutton. So I encourage everyone to have their say by visiting the consultation link before it closes on Sunday 6 January 2019.”

Full details on the three route options, the tram and BRT can be found at tfl.gov.uk/sutton-link
