STATEMENT: Public Health Grant

The Public Health Grant to the London Borough of Sutton is projected to be reduced by £259,000 next year.

The fall represents a cash reduction from £49 per person in 2017/2018, to £45 in 2019/2020.

This further demonstrates the continuing challenges we face in the borough as highlighted in the ongoing Sutton’s Future consultation.

Sutton Council remains determined to maintain key services and health is understandably a notable area that will require our support.

Cllr Ruth Dombey, Leader of Sutton Council and chair of the Health and Wellbeing Board, said:

“Public health affects everybody in our borough. We are rightly concerned by this reduced funding for public health as it simply means less money for our young and old.”
