Climate Action Week 2019

During the course of the week the council will be posting a series of tips on its Twitter and Facebook accounts which can help you save money and tackle climate change.

In case you miss any of them, the full set of tips is below. 

  • Help to keep fit by ditching the car and using the new Go Sutton bus. For more information and to book your ride visit GoSutton.co.uk 

  • Did you know Sutton has less rainfall than Barcelona and Sydney? We all need to take action to reduce our water. You can help by using the water saving tips and devices available from SES Water. For more information visit waterplc.com/pages/home/saving-water/

  • Try going meat free one day a week - it’s great for your health and the environment. Visit the Small Change Big Difference website for some great ideas to reduce food waste and save money too

  • You can save money by installing a smart meter. Find out more including how to  register for a free smart meter at home smartenergygb.org/en/get-a-smart-meter

  • Peatlands are a great environment for plants and animals. Go peat free in your garden. Find out more by visiting rhs.org.uk/advice/

  • Help reduce single use plastics by taking a reusable bag to the shops, it will save you buying one too!

  • Gardens are a great place to encourage wildlife and biodiversity. Set aside part of your garden to help protect our borough’s wildlife, the Wildlife Trust has some great tips: wildlifetrusts.org/gardening
