There will be a power outage at the Civic Offices and Sutton Central Library over the weekend of 14-15 March to allow essential maintenance and upgrade work to be carried out on the UK Power networks systems, transformers and electrical infrastructure.

This means that power and ICT services will be down at these locations at the following times:

  • Civic Offices from 6pm Friday 13 March until 7am Monday 16 March

  • Sutton Central Library on Sunday 15 March (between 7am and 5pm)

  • Gibson Road Car Park on Sunday 15 March (between 7am and 10:30am, though maybe as late as midday)

Sutton Central Library will be open on Saturday 14 March with limited book self-service facilities in operation, however, the public wi-fi, public computers and printers will all be out of use. The library will be closed on Sunday 15 March. We advise library customers to take advantage of Sutton Library’s offering by using the My Library app (Apple / Android) this weekend, as a free, convenient way to access library services with your smart device.

Sutton Central Library is expected to be operational on Monday 16 March, however, some services may experience additional downtime.

It is also expected that Gibson Road Car Park will experience a delayed opening on Sunday 15th March, until power is returned. It is expected to be open by 10:30am however this may be pushed back as late as midday. We will keep you informed with any developing information.

Members of the public will also be unable to search for or submit comments in relation to planning applications during the power outage, so we advise you plan ahead if you wish to comment on an application during this period.

Residents will still be able to call 020 8770 5000 if necessary and SMART teams will remain contactable by phone for those that need them. Thank you for your understanding.
