How Sutton’s befrienders are reducing loneliness in the borough

Thanks to the Council’s Covid Recovery Fund, this service has been able to grow to meet this increasing need.

Befriending aims to reduce social isolation and loneliness by creating new connections. Volunteer befrienders are paired up with adults of all ages who are feeling lonely or isolated. The pairs form friendships by doing activities together or simply having a chat.

The Covid Recovery Fund is just one example of how Sutton Council is working together with communities to address the challenges the pandemic has created, while protecting and building on the things that local people value.
