Supporting those who need it the most

16 voluntary and community organisations across the borough have received funding to support residents with issues such as isolation, mental health, physical health and more.

Find out how the fund is making a difference to the lives of many of our residents:

Sutton Mencap are using the funding to provide additional activities for adults with learning disabilities.

Sutton Community Works are using the funding to help those struggling on a low income to get food and essential items at the Sutton Foodshop.

The Volunteer Centre Sutton is using the funding to deliver the befriending service to isolated adults.

Sutton Old People’s Welfare Committee are using the funding to get the Sutton Lodge Day Centre up and running after closure during lockdowns.

The Sutton Women’s Centre is using the funding to train members of our community to become ‘Ask Me Ambassadors'.

 

Sutton Mental Health Foundation used the funding to recruit a specialist mental health and housing support worker for 6 months.

 

Jigsaw4u have used the funding to support children and young people with loss, trauma and bereavement.

 

 

Leader of Sutton Council, Councillor Ruth Dombey, said:

“Working together with our community in this way, we are addressing the challenges the pandemic has created, while protecting and building on the things that local people value.

"We are ambitious about making more improvements and providing more support, so that the borough has even more to offer its residents, visitors, businesses and communities, making Sutton an even better place to live, work and raise a family.”
