Any of us could change a life

I recently watched a film called ‘Any of Us’ on Sutton Council’s ‘Fostering in Sutton’ website.
It was a really moving film and shows that any of us have the potential to become a foster carer and make a difference to the life of a child. Foster carers are special people and I want to say thank you to all of you in Sutton who have done or who are doing this important role.
I really do appreciate the care and support you give to some of our most vulnerable young people. It’s hard to imagine what they must have gone through at a young age and I know that the support foster carers give to the children and young people makes a huge difference to their lives.
‘Any of Us’ shows the fostering journey of a young girl called Chloe and there are also real life testimonies from foster carers. I encourage you to watch the film and see the different reasons why people choose to foster.
There are many young people needing support in our borough and Sutton needs more foster carers. If you or anyone you know is interested in learning more about becoming a foster carer, send us an email or phone 020 8770 5563 (Monday to Friday 9am-5pm)
There is also going to be a virtual event on Wednesday 18 October where you can find out more information from Sutton Council’s fostering team.
You, or someone you know, might just be that person to give a child or young person the chance to discover new opportunities and live their best lives, in a safe and loving home while also keeping them close to their friends, school and local community.
As one of the foster carers says in the film, it’s rewarding for the carer as well as the child.
