Friendship Friday - Breast Cancer Awareness (SACCO)

‘The Road To Freedom: Ending Slavery in Britain' Exhibition

Our Cultural Services Team are are delighted to share an exhibition which explores the story of slavery and its abolition. Produced by 'Learning Through the Arts', the exhibition examines significant moments of the abolitionist movement. This will include a display of locally relevant material from Sutton’s own Archives, and LTA would like to offer school visits.

Coding Workshop for Children

This useful session will be delivered by the School of African Languages for up to 20 participants. For just £4 per ticket, you can be introduced to the world of Coding!

Self Empowerment for Black Women (SACCO)

Join the Sutton African and Caribbean Cultural Organisation, Sutton Uplift and the Women’s Centre for a session to empower black women. Come along and celebrate yourself and other sisters for BHM. Meet the Author: ‘India Won’t Go To Sleep’

Young author, India Jones-Aryeh, takes us on a journey through the book she wrote when she was just 8! In this session, you'll listen to her exciting story and hear all about what it's like to be a young author.

Astronauts to the Moon!

We celebrate the achievements and stories deeply rooted in black history. These sessions are packed with fun activities for children aged 3-8 that educate and inspire! Listen to enchanting stories from renowned authors, bringing the wonders of the cosmos down to Earth. Every participant will receive printable materials, plus a chance to win exciting book giveaways! 20 - 25 participants at £4 per ticket.

ACHA ‘darkness to light’ celebration

‘The Monuments of St Nicholas’ Church’

Join local historian Jeff Richards and the Friends of St Nicholas’ Churchyard for a short history talk (aimed at adults) introducing an exciting project to create a booklet that will explain the monuments of St. Nicholas, which have historical links with slavery & the slave trade. Sutton Historians ‘The Dr. George Rice Project:One Year On…’

A public talk about the project recognising the life and impact of Dr. Rice, an extraordinary Sutton resident who held many positions, including Chief Public Vaccinator for Sutton, Cheam and Carshalton. This free event has limited spaces; advance booking required.
