Building Vaccine Confidence with African and Caribbean Communities

An event with Professor Kevin Fenton, London Regional Director for Public Health England

Sutton Council will be hosting a free online event on the 16 June at 6:30pm - open to all residents, particularly those from Black African and Black Caribbean communities across London. 

The event will be an opportunity for those members of our community, who are hesitant to take up the Covid-19 vaccine to ask questions to our panel of Black clinicians and public health experts. We are delighted to be joined on the panel by Professor Kevin Fenton, London Regional Director for Public Health England.

The event will be chaired by Cllr Ruth Dombey and the panel will include; Professor Kevin Fenton, London Regional Director for Public Health England, Dr Nnenna Osuji, Medical Director and Chief Executive at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust, and Dr Donald Palmer, Associate Professor of Immunology.

Professor Kevin Fenton, London Regional Director for Public Health England said: 

“I am pleased to be taking part in this event, it is an important conversation for people from Black communities to be having together. Building trust with healthcare professionals and leaders is vital to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all Londoners. We want to ensure that residents are well informed about the vaccine and have the opportunity to speak to health experts about any concerns they might have.”

The panel will discuss the misconceptions and common myths about Covid-19, as well as provide accurate information, to ensure the community is better informed about the Covid-19 vaccine.
