The Crisis element of the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) provides both a financial crisis award and access to essential advice, additional support, and local services.
CRF Crisis Payment Eligibility
To apply for a crisis payment, you must be a Sutton resident on a low income facing a financial crisis due to a sudden, unforeseen issue (e.g., loss of income, emergency bills, or the breakdown of an essential item). The cost of this crisis must exceed your current income or savings.
You must also have an urgent and unmet need in one or more of the following areas:
- food
- essential utilities (heating, electricity, gas, or water)
- essential items (toiletries, clothing, household equipment, or boiler repair)
- urgent, uncovered housing costs
- vulnerability or community care requirements
Important Application Information
- you do not need to be receiving benefits to apply; referrals are assessed on a case-by-case basis
- while you can apply if you receive existing support (such as Universal Credit or Housing Benefit), this support will be considered during the decision process
- applying for this fund does not guarantee a payment
- awards are intended for short-term help only. If a crisis payment is not deemed suitable, you will be offered alternative support through other services
- all information provided will be verified against DWP and council records
- providing false information will result in rejection and may lead to a fraud referral
