Learning disabilities
If you have a learning disability and live in Sutton, there are services to support you, your family and your carers.
We support adults with learning disabilities with a range of services. Our aim is to help them to become as independent as possible and have the same quality of life as everyone else.
How we can support
We provide advice, support, assessment and therapies.
The level of support needed is different for everyone. We will look at what areas you need help with, such as:
- health and social care
- mental health
- education
- financial benefits
- access to work
- access to housing
We work with a range of organisations and partners, so we’ll direct you to other services when needed.
Moving from children's to adult social care
Services for young people and their families are provided by children's social care, until the age of 18. You can find out about moving from children's social care to adult social care.
Ask for a care assessment
Adults with a learning disability can request a care assessment, to find out what support you need. You can do this even if you haven’t had support from children's services.
If you look after someone with a learning disability, you can request a Carers assessment.
