Storm Eunice may cause significant disruption due to extremely strong winds on Friday.

The Met Office has upgraded their weather warning to Red for London and the south east from  10am to 3pm.

An Amber warning will remain in place either side of this, from 5am to 10am and 3pm to 9pm today.

Important phone numbers

Residents should call 999 in an emergency or 020 8770 5000 (in and out of office hours) to report an incident to the Council.

Sutton Housing Partnership residents can call 020 8915 2000 should they require any emergency repairs.

What to expect:

  • There is a good chance that flying debris could result in a danger to life
  • Damage to buildings and homes is likely, with roofs blown off and power lines brought down
  • Roads, bridges and railway lines are likely to close, with delays and cancellations to buses and train services
  • There is a good chance that power cuts, possibly prolonged, could occur and possibly affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
  • It is likely there will be falling branches and some uprooted trees

Anyone experiencing a power cut should

  • Visit the UK Power Networks website and type in their postcode to view a live power cut map, with details of individual power cuts and the latest updates
  • Call 105 free of charge to speak to the customer service team, report a power cut or damage to the electricity network
  • Tweet @UKPowerNetworks to report a power cut or to receive updates

We advise people to stay clear of power lines and report damaged power lines immediately by calling 105 free from either a landline or a mobile phone. If they see electricity lines that are down or causing significant risk to the public they should call 999.
