Neighbourhood Watch

Neighbourhood Watch is a partnership where people come together to make their communities safer. Together they aim to help reduce crime and disorder.

Supported by the police, local authority and other voluntary organisations, it can help people to:

  • protect themselves and their properties
  • reduce the fear of crime
  • make neighbourhoods a better and safer place to live

There are 850 Neighbourhood Watch schemes in Sutton working with police officers from the Safer Sutton Partnership.

All the schemes have the same objectives to:

  • to prevent crime by:
    • improving security
    • increasing vigilance
    • creating and maintaining a caring community
  • reducing opportunities for crime by increasing crime prevention awareness.
  • to assist the police in detecting crime by promoting:
    • effective communication
    • the prompt reporting of suspicious and criminal activity
  • to reduce undue fear of crime by:
    • providing accurate information about risks
    • promoting a sense of security and community spirit
    • particularly considering the more vulnerable members of the community
  • to improve police/community liaison

Safer Parks Teams

Safer Parks Teams is funded by Sutton Council and by the Met police.

The team patrols the boroughs parks and open spaces and have equipment to ensure they can reach all aspects of the parks day and night. 

If you have a concern either contact your SNT team or the parks teams on 0208 721 2268. They are available during the day  seven days a week
