Returning to reusables

In 2019 we launched Refill Sutton, in partnership with City to Sea and their nationwide Refill initiative. Over 40 local businesses are part of the scheme and are promoted as places for people to refill their water bottles. This prevents plastic pollution and helps tackle the climate emergency. 

Recent years have seen a really positive shift away from disposables and single-use plastics. The COVID-19 pandemic, however, presented a number of challenges that saw some of this great work paused.

125 health experts from eighteen countries have released a public statement to reassure both businesses and consumers that reusable containers do not increase the chance of virus transmission and are safe to use, providing basic hygiene is in place.
 
For those who are concerned about returning to reusables at present, City to Sea have provided some useful guidance on doing so safely. 

If just 1 in 10 Brits refilled their bottle just once a week, instead of buying a single-use bottle, we’d save around 340 million plastic bottles a year!

Choose to reuse and help others do the same. A simple solution to a global problem that you can get on board with today.
