Statement regarding Feasty Fest event, 13 September, Cheam Park.

Throughout the pandemic the safety of Sutton’s residents has been our highest priority and all decisions have been taken in close consultation with Sutton’s Director for Public Health.

The council is not satisfied it is possible to hold an event of this scale in Sutton without there being a serious risk of the transmission of Coronavirus.

Therefore the council has taken the decision that Feasty Fest in Cheam Park on 13 September should not proceed.

For absolute clarity, the council has never given consent for this event to take place.  

On 18 July 2020, new Government legislation (Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) (No.3) Regulations 2020 (‘the Regulations’) came into force to grant local authorities new powers to respond to a serious and imminent threat to public health and to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

These regulations include powers for local authorities to:

• Restrict access to, or close, individual premises
• Prohibit certain events (or types of event) from taking place
• Restrict access to, or close, public outdoor places (or types of outdoor public places)
