Local Elections
Local elections will take place on Thursday 7 May 2026 to elect new local councillors in the borough.
The Government’s education inspection agency, Ofsted, has rated Sutton College ‘Good’ after its latest inspection.
Ofsted inspections, held approximately every five years, ensure the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management meet the needs of the learners and stakeholders.
Inspectors commented that the College provides a curriculum built around local and regional needs, and that a high-quality of education was provided to apprentices, learners on English language courses and people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Inspectors also commended the College on the high quality of tutors available, the effective protection measures it has in place for its learners’ health and wellbeing, and the support it offers speakers of other languages.
On learning the outcome of the Ofsted inspection, Councillor Barry Lewis, Leader of Sutton Council, said:
“I would like to congratulate the staff and learners of Sutton College on this fantastic endorsement from Ofsted.
“We are proud of the impact Sutton College has on the lives of so many in our borough and this latest report recognises much of the College’s positive work.
“It is an institution that is very important to us, providing a range of courses from arts and crafts to fitness classes, that help to improve the health and wellbeing and provide skills training to so many people across Sutton. Well done everyone!”
Tom Dillon, the Principal of Sutton College, said:
“This report stands as a powerful testament to the dedication, hard work and unwavering commitment of all our staff and, of course, the incredible efforts of our learners.
“This latest Ofsted report truly encapsulates the significant progress and remarkable achievements the entire College has made since our previous inspections.”
