Sutton Start Well Early Years awareness week: Monday 31 October to Friday 4 November

Alongside a range of local services and organisations, Sutton Council is holding a week of information and engagement events for parents and carers - and grandparents! - of children under 5, during our first ever Start Well Week.

The aim of the week is to highlight all the different services available to parents/carers of young children in Sutton, from health and wellbeing, to information about free childcare, to what’s on for you and your children.

Councillor Marian James, Chair, People Committee, said: “There’s so much for families and carers of young children available in Sutton. Please pop down to our main event at the St Nicholas Centre for lots of really useful information about the support and services for families with children under 5.”

The family engagement event will take place between 10am and 3pm on Tuesday 1 November at the St Nicholas Centre (ground floor, opposite the vaccination centre), with a host of services available to talk to, including:

Pop in anytime, between 10am and 3pm to find out what is available for you and your family. 

Our second event takes place on Thursday 3 November when Cognus will be holding a special event for parents, families and carers, entitled “0 - 5 Years Matter - Nurturing Children and Empowering our Educational Settings and Families”. 

Join the Cognus team at Sutton Vineyard Church, Stayton House, 93 Stayton Road, Sutton SM1 2PS, either 10am to 11am or 1.30pm to 2.30pm, to learn more about the holistic approach for early childhood care and education, focusing on emotional, cognitive and physical needs. Services involved include: 

  • Early years
  • Special educational needs and disabilities
  • Educational Psychology service
  • Sensory impairment
  • Admissions
  • Sutton Virtual School (for looked after children)
  • Sutton information, advice and support service (SIASS)
  • Traveller education
  • Therapies

Local partners, such as Playwise, Cognus Limited and our children’s centres will have more early years related local activities during the week, so please make sure you check social media feeds for information
