Andrew Parsons will be working with the South London Partnership (SLP) encompassing Sutton, Kingston, Richmond, Merton and Croydon to deploy Internet of things (IoT) technologies across the boroughs.

Andrew has extensive experience of working at a senior level delivering leadership, change and service improvements across the Public, Private and Third sector. Prior to his appointment, Andrew held management experience in the public sector, working as the 5G Smart City Programme Manager for Sunderland City Council and was part of the team that won Sunderland the Digital leaders City of the Year Award.

During his tenure at Sunderland City Council, Andrew oversaw and helped the deployment of Smart City technologies across the city - successfully leading his team in securing an investment from City Fibre to deliver fibre to over 123,000 homes in the borough. He used tactical solutions to deliver connectivity more quickly than traditional routes to disadvantaged communities. He also helped to deploy 350 Samsung based solutions to individual properties across the city, with the focus on assisting the borough’s residents.

Andrew, on his appointment, said: “I am delighted to be leading the InnOvaTe Project, building on the partnership with the SLP boroughs and piloting solutions to help people live better, healthier lives. As a Londoner myself, I can see the real benefits that the deployment of IoT sensors and the data generated can make to residents and businesses.

“I am pleased that our recent deployments, supported by IoT Solutions Group and Vivacity Labs, are underway and I look forward to working with everyone involved.”

Steve O’Connor, Assistant Director of Digital and IT at Sutton and Kingston Councils, said:

“I am really glad that Andrew has joined us to lead the InnOvaTe Project - his ambition and experience will help the team with deploying solutions to help residents and communities across the five SLP boroughs, and I am pleased to be working with Andrew to achieve this goal.”
