The Eagles Are Landing!

The two stone eagles that were part of the original Beech Tree Place in Sutton town centre will be returning home early in August.

The statues were first located on top of the Old Rectory gateposts in West Street before social housing was built on the site in the 1950s. Over the years the eagles have deteriorated due to the effects of weather, but as part of the current works at the site to build 92 new affordable homes they have been restored to their former glory.

Before returning to the new housing development, the eagles will be on display in St Nicholas Church until December 2025. If you want to see them, just pop in when the church is open.

More informative public events are planned for September where visitors will also be able to learn the history of the eagles and their links to the local area. Come and see where the eagle has landed!

St Nicholas Church is open on Thursdays from 9.30am to 12.30pm (with a service from 10am to 10.30am) and on Sundays from 10am to 12.30pm (with a service from 10.30am to 11.15am).
