Your guide to temporary accommodation

Moving into emergency or temporary accommodation can be a busy and stressful time. To help with the process, and to ensure that you prioritise the most important tasks when you move, we have developed a new booklet Your guide to temporary accommodation.

Inside it, you’ll find lots of useful information about housing, life on a low income, getting help with your benefits, and looking after your family’s health and wellbeing. There are contact details for lots of local organisations, whether you are living in Sutton or are currently accommodated outside of the borough.

We are keen to ensure that the booklet is as useful as possible. Please let us know if you have any suggestions about how we can improve it by contacting publichealth@sutton.gov.uk

This quote is from Urwa, a local resident who is living in temporary accommodation, who helped us to produce this guide.

Urwa said, “When you first move into temporary accommodation, especially when you have children, you have lots of questions. It is great to have a guide that contains all the information you need to know. It also makes you aware of all the services that can provide a lot of help which you may not have known about."
