Sutton’s award-winning parks and green spaces

It's no secret that in Sutton we are blessed with some of the most beautiful parks in London. More proof of that came this week with the news that Sutton has won seven new Green Flag awards, beating the borough's previous record of six awards!

The prestigious Green Flag scheme rewards the best-managed parks and green spaces and our awards are in no small part thanks to the tireless efforts of our volunteers, Friends Groups and staff. These individuals give their time and expertise to ensure our parks are clean, safe and green, and I am grateful to each and every one of them.  

The parks that have been awarded Green Flag status in 2022 are: 

• Beddington Park

• Carshalton Park

• Cheam Park

• Manor Park

• Oaks Park

• Rosehill Park

• The Grove

We know how important parks are for people: they play a special role at the heart of our community and are where we play, socialise, exercise or just enjoy nature. That’s why we’re investing more than £2million this year to make our parks and green spaces even more enjoyable. From large-scale improvements of the St Helier Open Space to tennis court upgrades and skate ramps, we’re working to ensure that our parks remain safe and welcoming for everyone. 

There is plenty happening in our parks this summer. Our Parks Festival this summer is brought to you in partnership with our amazing Friends groups and has a host of family-friendly events, and if you’d like to get more involved at your local park, our Friends Groups page has all the relevant information to point you in the right direction. Whether you prefer mini golf at Grove Park or landscape painting at Manor Park, there’s something for all the family in Sutton’s parks.

And finally, LoveParks week starts today. It’s run by Keep Britain Tidy and is an opportunity to show how much we love our parks. I’m proud to Lead a borough that values our parks and green spaces, and I look forward to spending some time in our award-winning parks this summer.
