School uniform cost
The London Borough of Sutton does not provide school uniform grants, however, you may be able to get some financial support through your child’s school. Each school will have its own uniform policy that sets out what uniform is required, this is normally found on the school website or in the school prospectus.
Schools may specify a supplier for some items of school uniform, such as a school blazer, tie and/or jumpers. However, to reduce the cost of school uniform, most schools often sell secondhand uniform and many high street shops and supermarkets stock generic school uniforms such as skirts, trousers and shirts. Please contact your child's school to find out what is support is available to reduce the cost of school uniform.
You may be eligible to receive support with your uniform costs if you receive certain benefits. To check that you are receiving all the benefits you are entitled to, use the Benefits calculator on the gov.uk website or visit www.turn2us.org.uk.
You may also be able to get an interest free budgeting loan (GOV.UK) to help with costs.
Your local Citizens Advice Bureau may also be aware of some local funding that could help towards school uniform costs.
