Our learning disabilities service

If you have a learning disability and live in Sutton, there are services to support you, your family and carers.

Who we support

We support adults with learning disabilities with a range of services. Our aim is to help people to become as independent as possible and have the same quality of life as everyone else.

Warning Adults with a learning difficulty such as dyslexia or ADHD are not eligible for support from the learning disabilities service.

How we can help

We provide advice, information, assessment, support and therapies.

The level of support needed is different for everyone. We will look at what areas you need help with, such as:

  • health and social care
  • mental health
  • education
  • financial benefits
  • access to work
  • access to housing

We work with a range of organisations and partners, so we’ll direct you to other services when needed.

Moving from children's to adult social care

Services for young people and their families are provided by children's social care, until the age of 18. You can find out about moving from children's social care to adult social care

Ask for a care needs assessment

You can request an assessment for yourself or someone else. You’ll need their permission first unless they don't have the capacity to make or communicate that decision themselves.

The assessment will help us to find out what support you need.

If you look after someone with a learning disability, you can request a Carers assessment.
