The team and what we do
We have a dedicated Biodiversity Team who work with Sutton Nature Conservation Volunteers to manage our borough's nature reserves and wider biodiversity.
The team:
- carries out ecological management within Sutton's nature reserves to protect, maintain and enhance ensure wildlife-friendly habitats for flora and fauna
- educates children and adults about the local environment and the wildlife in the borough through events at Sutton Ecology Centre
- promotes awareness and understanding amongst the general public through delivering guided walks and talks around the borough
- works with the planning department to advise on wildlife issues associated with planning applications
- maintains up to date, accurate and accessible records of the habitats and species in the borough
- offers advice and coordinates actions that can help wildlife locally through the Biodiversity Strategy
- Contribute towards delivery of the Environment Strategy dealing with nature
