Biodiversity and wildlife

The team and what we do

We have a dedicated biodiversity team who work with Sutton Nature Conservation Volunteers to manage our borough's nature reserves and wider biodiversity.

The team:

  • protects, manages and enhances the local environment
  • promotes awareness and understanding amongst the general public
  • works with the planning department to advise on wildlife issues associated with planning applications
  • carries out ecological management within Sutton to ensure wildlife-friendly habitats.
  • maintains up to date, accurate and accessible records of the habitats and species in the borough
  • offer advice and coordinate actions that can help wildlife locally
  • educates local children and the general public about the local environment and the wildlife in the borough
