Equality Workforce Report

Sutton works towards greater equality in the workforce profile year on year and is committed to developing a workforce profile that reflects the community it serves. The report provides an overview of the workforce which, together with feedback from staff, provides greater direction on where the Council can influence change for the better.

Speaking about the findings of the report, Leader of the Council, Ruth Dombey, said:

"Sutton Council values and celebrates the diversity of our community. We are committed to making Sutton a fully inclusive and welcoming borough for everyone.

That starts with us; and I am delighted that we have made good progress in making our Council workforce look more like the community that we serve. But we still have work to do.

COVID-19 and the Black Lives Matter movement have shone a particular light onto the challenges that many from Black and minority ethnic backgrounds in our community and our workforce still face.

I am pleased that we are facing the challenges head on and I look forward to continuing to work with all our staff to make sure that Sutton can be the most inclusive employer possible.

By building a workforce that is representative of the community we serve, we will be in the best position to understand, support and work with our residents and deliver the services that they need."
