Final informal consultation for Sutton parking proposals

The parking strategy seeks to prioritise on-street parking for residents where possible, while taking into account demands on kerb space from future developments, commuter parking and safety and access for emergency and refuse collection vehicles.

The review, which is taking place across three geographical areas, is at the final phase of informal consultation covering Geographical Area 3.

The council has this week written to residents in parts of Cheam North, Worcester Park, Beddington and Wallington to update them on the latest proposals for their areas.

The revised proposals mean that for many residents, we are not suggesting any major changes.

Environment and Neighbourhood Committee Chair Councillor Manuel Abellan said:

“The new plans were developed following feedback in our initial consultation for Geographical Area 3, and we have now developed very specific parking proposals in a small number of locations.

“We do need to address areas of acute parking pressure identified through the consultation and parking beat surveys and as a result we’ve designed targeted schemes to address those parking issues.”

The main proposals are:

Controlled parking zone (permit required)

Longfellow Road area - CPZ proposal (resident parking permit required)

Lingfield Road - CPZ extension proposal (resident parking permit required)

Permit parking area (permit required)

Barrington Road area - PPA proposal (resident parking permit required)

Moreton Road area - PPA proposal (resident parking permit required)

Freebay scheme (no permit required)

Ross Road area - free bay scheme proposal (no permit required)

Double yellow lines have also been proposed at key locations across the consultation area to improve road safety and maintain access.
