King Charles III Coronation Street Parties

Ahead of King Charles III coronation over the May bank holiday weekend (6th-8th May 2023), the Council is encouraging residents and communities to come together and plan street parties to celebrate the historic occasion.

Event applications are being accepted from Monday 16th January 2023. The deadline for applications is Sunday 23rd April 2023. We are expecting a significant number of applications so please do submit your application as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Submitting an application

The Council has introduced a streamlined event application form to make it as easy as possible for residents to apply to hold a street party. To complete your application, we will ask you for:

  • Your details

  • The details of the event you are planning

  • Road closure and parking requirements, including information on the consultation you’ve held with your local residents and businesses.

  • Information on the risks at your event that you may need to consider to ensure it runs smoothly and safely.

Make an application

If you need support completing your application, please see an example completed application form. If you need further support or would like to talk through your event plans then please do get in touch with us: events@sutton.gov.uk

You do not need to contact individual council services. Once we have your application we'll do this for you.

We are aiming to get back to event organisers as soon as possible, but please allow 2 weeks from submitting your application for us to contact you.

Council fees

In order to support communities further, the Council has waived road closure, parking suspension and parking dispensation fees to remove financial barriers to communities holding street parties on the bank holiday weekend (6th-8th May 2023)

We wish you all the best planning your event and look forward to receiving your application!

National Lottery funding is available for community coronation events. Although The Council has waived fees and charges we are unable to offer Local Funding or Events Fees and Charges Grants to cover costs for coronation street parties due to anticipated demand and the need to ensure that we are able to fund community projects throughout the year.
