Children aged 0-17 make up 23% of Sutton’s population and of these, 10% live in low income households. Over the last few years, more and more children have needed our support, while the cost of services has continued to rise.
As a result of the pandemic, more children and their families are needing our support and the number of children with complex needs is increasing. This means that we need to spend an extra £1.150m to support our vulnerable children this year, bringing our total spend on children’s services to £44.7m.
