Permanent Market Pitches - Sutton High Street
Sutton High Street is one of 3 streets designated for permanent street trading in the Borough.
The Council offer a temporary licence for new traders which lasts up to 12 weeks (minimum of 4 weeks), subject to a minimum of 2 days trading per week. After this period, we can provide a permanent licence which runs from 1st April to 31st March each year.

Stall
You will have to provide your own market stall, as the Council does not provide them.
Insurance
All traders must provide proof of Public Liability Insurance cover for a minimum of £2million.

How to apply
Once you have read the frequently asked questions documents and wish to proceed with an application, please contact us at licensing@sutton.gov.uk
What happens next
Your application will be assessed according to:
- the goods you wish to sell
- the days you wish to trade
- whether you can readily be accommodated in the market
If you have not traded at Sutton market previously, it is a good idea to visit our market to see what goods existing traders sell.
All new applications are subject to a 28 day consultation period. If there are no objections to your application, your licence will be issued at the end of this period. You may not trade until such time as a licence has been issued.
Renewal
Applications to renew a permanent market pitch licence must be made a month before the expiry date of the current licence.
