String of awards for Sutton in London in Bloom competition

Parks owned and maintained by Sutton Council came away with a string of awards at the annual London in Bloom awards.

The awards ceremony, held at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond on 20 September, saw London boroughs, town centres, Business Improvements Districts and businesses competing for more than 250 awards.

The results were as follows:

Manor Park (Park of the Year category) – Silver Gilt

The Grove (Large Park of the Year category) – Silver Gilt

Beddington Park (Large Park above 25 acres category) – Silver Gilt

Oaks Park  (Large Park above 25 acres category)  – Silver Gilt

Cheam Park (Large Park above 25 acre) category) – Silver Gilt

Overall, Sutton was awarded a Silver Gilt for its efforts.

In the Fresh Air Gardens category, Cheam Kitchens, Bedrooms and Bathrooms Ltd, was awarded a Gold.

Cllr Manuel Abellan, Chair of the council’s Environment and Neighbourhood committee, said: “With more than 400 hectares of green open space in Sutton, I am delighted that the quality of Sutton’s parks has been officially recognised. I would like to thank everyone concerned for working tirelessly to make them a first-class facility for residents and visitors.”
