Sutton has been awarded the Disabled Parking Accreditation (DPA) for Times Square, Shotfield, Cheam High Street and Wallington Library car parks.

DPA recognises commitment to improving parking for disabled people and reducing abuse of disabled spaces.

Sutton's car parks demonstrated they were creating high quality parking facilities for disabled people including accessible bays, routes and payment machines and a commitment to enforcing the abuse of disabled parking bays.

Warren Shadbolt, Assistant Director for Sutton Council's Safer and Stronger Communities said: “I am delighted that Sutton's council car parks have achieved the award as it means they are ensuring high quality parking facilities that are available to everyone.  I am particularly proud that Sutton has again been recognised nationally as a council that does not tolerate the abuse of disabled parking spaces and is committed to penalising those that do.

“This great achievement is testament to how we manage our car parking service and the high standards we are able to maintain."
