Sutton welcomes new Assistant Director, Assets

Mark has held several leadership positions in both the public and private sector, varying from construction and property to facilities management. Prior to this appointment, Mark was the Director of Facilities and Support Services at the London Borough of Croydon, responsible for Estates and Asset Management, Health and Safety, Project Delivery, Energy and Sustainable Development, Facilities and Business Support Services.

During his tenure in Croydon, Mark led the transformation of the facilities and property functions, delivering service improvements and new ways of working. He also delivered on a number of major projects that resulted in increased income generation; provided a workplace which helped staff be agile and flexible; and utilised the estate more efficiently.

Mark, on his appointment, said: 

“I am really pleased to be joining Sutton during a really exciting time for the borough. I’m looking forward to meeting the team, building on their great work, and ensuring our services and assets support the delivery of the council's priorities.”

Richard Simpson, Strategic Director of Resources at Sutton Council, said:

“I’m delighted that the council has appointed Mark. His track record in providing strategic property advice, delivering major change and service improvements will be vital in growing and developing our strategy and ambition.”
