Cashless Parking in Sutton

Drivers in Sutton can already use their mobile phones to pay for parking in our car parks and, from 13 September 2021, this service will be extended to on-street parking across the entire borough. Motorists will be able to book, pay for and extend their parking session via the RingGo app on their mobile phone. What’s more, there is no convenience fee in Sutton, so parking charges are the same as paying by cash, although the optional text alerts do carry a small additional charge (see ‘Tell Me More’ below for details).

Cash payments will still be available at parking machines and users who don’t have a smartphone will also have the option to book their parking by calling, sending a text message, or paying online. Using the app will prevent the need to touch shared machine surfaces making it a covid-safe choice.

Benefits of Cashless Parking

  • No need to carry coins. Just book through the app.

  • Extend your parking. If you want to stay longer or you’re running late, click the extend button in the app without needing to return to your car.

  • Reminders at the end of your parking session. Reminders via text message alert you when your parking is running out and you can extend your session. Please note there is a small charge for text alerts, which you can opt-out of.

  • Book and pay from your car.

  • Touch-free parking without having to visit or use a machine.

How Does it Work?Ringo app store image

Cashless parking in Sutton is offered through the RingGo app which can be downloaded via your phone’s App Store or Google Play Store. Once you’ve downloaded the app, set up your account by registering your details.

Once you’re parked in an area where cashless parking is available, you need to confirm the vehicle you’re using and let the service know exactly where you are parked. You do this by entering the four or five digit location number, advertised on local signs.

For example, if a RingGo sign displays “1234”, this would be the location code you would enter on your mobile. You then just have to say how long you’re staying and confirm your payment details.

Civil Enforcement Officers know you’re parked with the service by checking your vehicle registration on their devices.
